FROM THE CHANCELLOR

If the last two years have taught us anything, it is that Seawolves are resilient. We kicked off the fall semester by welcoming students, faculty, staff and alumni back to UAA for some great in-person events like Campus Kickoff, Homecoming and bringing hockey and gymnastics back to campus. It’s been a great beginning to the academic year, and I am excited to see what the spring semester will bring.

Looking forward, we are moving past the challenges the pandemic brought, and I am happy to announce that enrollment is up across four of our six campuses. In addition to increased enrollment, we are keeping UAA affordable with a tuition freeze for the fall ’23 semester. We also rolled out many tuition benefits for students taking in-person and online classes.

Additionally, students and faculty are performing outstanding research in Alaska and beyond, forging partnerships with community partners like the Anchorage School District, and we are opening our doors in innovative ways to provide accessible and affordable education options like never before.

Long term, we are continuing to strengthen our institution’s foundation with strategic planning through UAA 2027, which will continue our efforts to provide pathways for higher education. Recently, the Board of Regents’ approval of our 10-year Campus Facilities Master Plan will allow us to begin shaping how the university’s buildings will grow and change to accommodate our campus’ needs.

There is much on the horizon for UAA, and I am inspired by the work being done to continue building and enhancing our reputation in Alaska and beyond. I hope you will return to your alma mater to see the exciting changes happening here. Whether you’re taking a class, considering a new degree program or enjoying a sporting event or lecture, our doors are open, and we’re happy to welcome you back to campus. I look forward to seeing you on campus and in the community.

With Green and Gold Spirit,
