Fire Island Rustic Bakeshop co-owner and teaching alumna Janis Fleischman, M.A.T. ’86, was awarded the 2025 ATHENA Leadership Award. The Anchorage ATHENA Society’s highest honor, the award recognizes an ATHENA inductee for exceptional service.

Signature Land Services director of client relations and journalism and public communications alumna Jennifer Schrage, B.A. ’93, was inducted into the Anchorage ATHENA Society Class of 2025. Schrage and 13 other inductees were honored at an annual luncheon on March 17, 2025.

Colville, the largest fuel handling and storage company on the North Slope, announced in January 2025 that it promoted general program and accounting alumna Jennifer Segelhorst, A.A. ’93, B.B.A. ’97, to chief financial officer. In March 2025, CIRI named small business administration alumna Tabetha Toloff, A.A.S. ’97, as its new president. In this role, Toloff will lead the corporation’s ANCSA mission and operations, spearhead stakeholder engagement and provide strategic oversight of shareholder and descendant programs and corporate affairs departments. The U.S. Small Business Administration has named Advanced Supply Chain International Federal Services LLC president, CEO and majority owner and psychology alumna Christine Hopkins, B.A. ’00, as the 2025 Small Business Person of the Year for the State of Alaska. In December 2024, the PND Engineers board of directors elected principal engineer and civil engineering alumnus Bryan Hudson, B.S. ’04, to serve as the company’s next senior vice president. Lookout, the second book by creative writing and literary arts alumna Christine Byl, M.F.A. ’05 (also author of Dirt Work: An Education in the Woods), will be rereleased in paperback in July 2025. After passing the principles and practice of engineering exam, PND Engineers announced it had promoted civil engineering alumnus Obadiah Dawson, B.S. ’20, to senior engineer. Having been with the company for five years, Dawson has been involved in bridge, marine and building structural design, has performed gravity and lateral design for existing and new structures in regions containing large seismic, wind and snow loads, and has experience analyzing and designing structures consisting of timber, reinforced concrete, aluminum, light-gauge steel and structural steel materials.
